I've obtained a super-clean copy of Victor 19165, Arthur Gibbs "Charleston" circa 1923. If 10 people are willing to pay $25 per copy plus $5 shipping in the USA then I'll mold it.

Y'all might think this is a stupid question, as I've never owned a new 78...can I play this on acoustic machines or electric only?

It will play on an acoustic machine. I believe I'm currently the only person making such discs. The link in my signature has all the 7" discs I have available.

I can say for sure now that these records are 100% incredible. Today my Maple Leaf Rag came in, recorded electrically from Joplin's 1916 piano roll. Absolute awesomeness in a tiny 8" record.

Played it on an electrical phonograph of the cheapest & crummiest modern maker. Still played great. I think it's the best-sounding piano record I own, beating out a 1925 Orthophonic recording of Mr. Rachmaninoff himself playing one of my other favorite songs. (Didn't I say both kinds of music? Classical & rags?)

The label is gorgeous.
The resin is cold & heavy, just like an antique.
It feels good & substantial--like a 180-gram LP feels better than a regular one.
The edges show a peek at the structure of the resin--gritty & crystalline, no worries about softness here.
The playing surface is very quiet, even on the electric machine that tends to heighten the static unacceptably.
It was twenty bucks.

Two suggestions...

I. If it's not originally an etched label, make it a cool paper label.
2. If there was a website or something I'd be happy about that. This is a record I want--as in the only Charleston record I've ever seen that lives up to the hype. But I don't have the $$$ together now.

I'll second the praise for the Maple Leaf Rag record... extremely nicely done... got mine yesterday.

Regarding the Charleston... if you get nine buyers, I will be #10...

Yes. I can get a quote next time I'm at the post office but it looks like it will be around $30USD, though multiple discs could be shipped for that price.
