Wanted: Edison Needle Cut records.
I have a needle adapter for my C-19, so it will play these
needle cuts?

I wouldn't play a needle type with an adapter...they have a tendency to run off onto the label and needle types are too valuable to risk it.

I have a small portable crank up from 1920's.
Would they play on it?

An Edison needle cut record will play on any machine that plays "78s", i.e., any Victrola or similar machine.
Having said that, any playable needle cut is worth at least $25, and most are worth more, with real rarities like the 12" gold label records going well into the hundreds. As such, playing them on vintage equipment with steel needles should be the exception, not the rule.

I have a few copies of Kansas City Kitty that are needle cut. Just message me if you'd like a copy ($25 + shipping).

They'll play on any machine set up for lateral cuts--a Victrola, a Graphonola, a suitcase portable, a Sonora, you name it. But the point remains: they are very pricey records, and much as we all love our acoustic phonographs, there's no question that they put a lot of wear on records and have the potential to cause value-impairing damage with each play. My advice would be to stick to more commonplace records for the steel needles and play rarities like the Edison laterals on a good modern setup that you can be confident won't cause them harm.

OK thanks everyone. If I get one, it'll just be for display then.
