Re-Digitizing my Diamond Discs

In the past, I used an Archivette microphone to digitize Diamond Disc records. I cut a hole in the Edison horn and installed the mic right behind the reproducer.

The sound was 'OK', but seemed muted compared to what came out of the horn. I just brought home some electronic stuff, including a couple 'dynamic' microphones and thought I'd experiment a little. I placed a microphone at the mouth of the horn and recorded that way. I think the sound is much better. Now I have to digitize my Diamond Discs all over again!

Here are some of the new recordings:

I think these are much better.

Sounds really great. I have a computer so all I need is a good microphone. My favorite selection is Not-Yet Suzette. Fun music.
