Victrola 501

Post by GregVTLA »

Does anyone own or know about any machines serial number 501? It'd be interesting to see. Up until now, the lowest serial number I've had has been number 1262. And, victor-victrola.com seems to always have a lowest survivor with a number of 540 or around there.

I personally have never seen a Victor ID with a serial that low, however I have an Edison Jacobean with a serial number of 19. I know that isn't a Victor but it certainly is low. I am sure somewhere out there is a Victor machine with a 501 serial, if only we knew where.

A friend in Knoxville, TN had one with serial #501. He sent most of his machines to Stanton's this Fall to be sold. I've seen the tag and the machine, but sadly cannot remember which model is was.

This is the closest I can come. The next lowest I have is a VE8-12X at 547

There's a spectacular Victrola "William & Mary" serially numbered 516 on pages 38-39 of Phonographs with Flair.

Pretty cool finding the first!

We're the spring motor and electrolas serial numbered separately?

I'm pretty sure they are, since the model designations are technically different.

This is still one of my favorite machines that you have.
