I have a couple of Cal Stewart's "Uncle Josh" 78's. Rather interesting recordings. I don't really undersatnd what he is saying, but they are rather, interesting to listen too.

It does take a little effort to understand Cal's "Uncle Josh" dialect, but
once you've gotten used to it, it's not too hard to follow. I've been an
Uncle Josh fan for over 45 years, now [introduced to him on Edison when I
was 13 years old]. He is buried in Tipton, Indiana.
One tip on understanding these records---reproduce them on the kind of
machine they were made for [not a modern-era stereo] and try listening from
an adjacent room. Sometimes, this makes them clearer. I have often had to
experiment with that.

Thanks. The spooky thing is that Cal Stewart died on December 7th, 1918 and December 7th is my birthday!
