Is the Goop non pumice? You can get GoJo at O'Reilly's Auto Store..

I also wouldn’t use orange.
You should really just order some New Life. You’ll thank yourself later. (I should start getting royalties from them!)

Well, this can be deleted. I stopped at a auto parts store and finally found some!

I'll look that up now. I figured I'm gonna attempt to do a cleaning for the first time on my Edison lid. Going off advice here. Using 0000 steel wool, towels, and gojo...then wiping off and wiping with a soft cloth.

Just tried it for the first time. The GEM lid was already pretty rough, but I figured I couldn't loose much on it.
First pic is before. Second pic is after a quick gojo brush on, steel wool, then wipe with a clean soft towel. 3rd is after putting some orange oil on it and wiping off excess. What do y'all think? Think I should try my bigger machines?

Just for posterity: GOOP=GOJO. As long as there's no pumice, you're good to go.
And your Gem lid looks good, btw.
Best,
Fran

Thanks Fran. I've since decided to experiment. I put a coat of Restore a Shine on it, then buffed and applied orange oil. I think it came out good. There's a Columbia upright in the local flea market. Some of the pot metal is busted, but the wood looks good just nasty. I think ima go by it, and that will be what I learn on. I want to get proficient before I touch my good machines.
Here's some pics. I tried to use same lightnin for everything...looks different on camera than real life.

This is exactly the product I use. I get it at Harbor Freight and at WalMart.

I wouldn't use the orange stuff to clean a machine, but it's great for cleaning your hands if they're covered in grease!
