I thought that I would share with the Forum one of my latest additions to the collection. A couple of years ago I showed the restoration process of a Oak Concealed Horn Cabinet that I had acquired. I recently had the opportunity to acquire a Mahogany version of the same cabinet that was all original, just needing a good cleaning. I thought that I would share some pictures of two Herzog cabinets that are not often seen together. As always, click on the pictures to straighten them up. Thanks for looking.

If those speaker carvings are wood it would be a fortune to repair or replace them. Those are extraordinary cabinets. It is nice to compare the two different wood effects. Tom B

Very nice for sure but as a record "Listener" it makes me wonder why they would want the sound to exit on the side of the cabinet instead of the front? I know it would change the look but it seems some logical design might have been possible?

The cabinet was obviously designed for those people who didn't want a new fangled phonograph messing up the ambiance of their living room... If the horn faced forward the cabinet not only would look strange, but it would by necessity be very deep and protrude into the room.

So, I'm wondering with the custom made for cabinet horn, and the baffle of the cabinet which would alter the sound, just how do they sound? Do you have a video of them, or one of them playing?
