Until I get a cabinet, this is the opera setup!

I got this pull down record cabinet when I was about 20 from an older couple in town. The lady’s (in 70s at the time) grandmother brought it over from the UK I believe. It was full of European records, with original store sleeves from places in London etc. It also has the dealer tag inside. It also can only be opened with the skeleton key, which the original is still with it. For now, my Opera will call it home till I get a nice cabinet for it!

Has anyone seen another cabinet like this? I’d like to find someone who has one and ask a few questions about its construction. So I can tighten up the top per ce.

Absolutely fantastic! I’ve been buying some Billy Murray and such to stick in it. It sounds great. I rebuilt the reproducer as well. Very nice machine. Thanks again!! It sits prominently in my living room, which is perfect cause all the wood furniture but this record cabinet is mahogany colored, which contrasts good with the white cabinets and such I have. I’ll take a pic for you if you’d like when I get home.

If you can post a picture of the dealer tag inside the cabinet I may be able to research it.

That works Jacob. The corner placement will also give you the best sound. Beautiful machine!

I’ll be back home in about an hour or so I’ll post then!

There’s not a lot online it seems. I did find this which looks the same.

As you have discovered there is not much information on Sesame cabinets, but I did find this picture of a de luxe model in mahogany with a flame walnut front panel which appeared on eBay years ago. The eBay listing has long since disappeared.

I had more luck with the retailers, Paterson's. The business was founded in Edinburgh in about 1820 and the Glasgow branch was opened in about 1857. In 1892 the New York branch of Boosey & Co became Paterson's distributors in North America. In 1984 the company was taken over by Chester Music.

I have also found these two images of their record covers.

Very cool, thanks! I did find I actually have a record sleeve which is neat. I’m curious what the value of it is, I wouldn’t mind selling to fund a cylinder cabinet.
