Electric tone arm/pickup ?

I purchased several boxes of Phonograph parts at a flea market a couple of years ago. This gold/bronze colored mechanism was part of the batch of miscellaneous parts. I assume this was meant to play your records on your Phonograph but maybe use this arm to amplify through your radio? In very fine print on the pickup I see "Webster electric, Coracine, Wis. I don't know what it was used on, it's not really up my alley. Can someone give me an idea as to how it was used, or what it went to? There is a volume control (?) on the base and uses two wires to plug into something.
And lastly, does anyone here need this or have interest in it. I don't have use for it. Thanks. D. Edwards

Yes, that's what it is. They were gadgets used to help folks keep using their record collections, but using the new electronic amplifying technology rather than acoustic.

They generally don't work too well.

I like it and will send a PM to you so maybe we can make a deal on it. Thanks.

Thank you Peter, I appreciate the confirmation and information about it. I'm glad that it will be going to a new home. Enjoy.
