Question on Standard D bed plate

I have a Standard D bed plate where it looks like the very top layer of shellac has gone cloudy. The paint underneath looks very nice and shinny. Can this top coat be removed??
Thanks
Pete

Pete,

I highly recommend "Blue Magic" metal polish. It works wonders on phonograph, fan, and typewriter paint, and looks wonderful once finished. Don't rub too hard over the decals but do use it, then buff it carefully with clean dry cotton cloth until it is free of residue. Your bedplate should be very presentable.

Meguiar's Scratch X 2.0 is also recommended by more than one person on the board for polishing bedplates.
