Today came the second installment of parts to complete my tabletop VV-X. In my opinion they did a great job. Ron Satterfield @ Nashville plating service did the work. Fine work and they were able to plate the crank, but keep the mahogany handle!
Couldn’t be happier.

Very, very nice..... It's hard to find good platers today.

They specialize in antique musical instrument parts such as banjos. But the did a nice job here. Not as organized as I would have preferred, but they did fabulous work. The end product was certainly worth the wait. I would certainly reccommend them, but take pics before sending.the parts to help get all the parts back, and do not hesitate about a bullet brake or crank, then can take care of them nicely.

I'd like some gold parts plated, but they are waiting for a decent sized order before making that commitment. Gold in solution is rather expensive at the moment, and I just have 4 small parts to go with a table top XI. I'd consider my VTLA if there were others needed this service. Enough to meet his minimum.

Did they do the prep work too? The pre-plate polishing is one of the most critical parts of the process and the plating only looks as good as the prep. It looks great.

Here is a before pic of the plated parts. They did all the prep work. I took this pic just before shipping the parts out.

They did a great job. It looks like old nickel. I have a couple of 20" Columbia horns that need nickle plating. Can you post their information?

The owner’s name is Ron Satterfield. [email protected] I can send his phone # via PM if needed.

I was pleased that they could replate the crank without harming the Mahogany handle. They coat it in latex rubber, plate, then remove the latex. The process of plating all the parts wasn't seamless, but I am pleased with the outcome. Photos ahead of time are a must.

Plating can be done in China for a fraction of its cost here.
