The Silvertone has the wrong tone arm (should be straight) but oddly the vertical cut adapter is present. Still, not too bad a deal if you have the right arm- it is cute.

So who picked this one up? Seems like a pretty reasonable price.

Seems reasonable but it appears the horn has been removed (the picture show something not right off to the side, and their comment about using it as an entertainment center seem to lean towards that direction).

At a $150, I'd grab it, even without a horn...just out of curiosity, how difficult would it be to find a horn for that machine?

The gutted right side contained the speaker and radio, so all that is left is the turntable and changer mechanism and a nice cabinet.

I picked up the 9-55. I know I'll ever find the correct radio parts but was told by a knowledgeable collector that a Victor RE-45 could be modified to fit and would at least keep this from being gutted out totally. The owner told me he was going to haul it off to the local auction where I know it would have been bought to use as a storage cabinet. So now I'll patiently wait for the right radio while this monster takes up half the garage...

I'd rather a 10-50.

Agreed. A 10-50 is a great sounding machine and puts out a ton of volume. In this case though, that wasn't what was for sale, it was either me to try and save a rare machine or the auction/gutted cabinet, it is a really attractive cabinet, and it will be a neat challenge to see if I can get it working in some form or fashion. If not, then likker cabinet it is!!

If you can get the changer operating you should be able to rig up an amp and speaker just to make it operable- aside from the case the auto changer is the real star of the show here.

Aren't those early electric Victor pick-ups harsh on records?
