I recently purchased an Amberola 60. I already have an Amberola 80, V and 30 (sold my 75 years ago), but I am not familiar with the 60. I was wondering if anyone knows how many were produced and what it might be worth-it's in very good working condition. Thanks for any info

I just saw this, and this is crazy, but that is a mighty rare Amberola on your hands.

Frow has very little to say about the 60 and 80 models, both of which are quite hard to find. They both featured the rare Diamond D reproducer, which was a regular Diamond C reproducer with an added weight, presumably as an attempt to generate extra volume.

I have a Diamond D reproducer and they are very hard on the records. They will produce more volume especially with the late 5000 series records. Almost sounds like a diamond disc machine.

Never knew such a beast existed! Nice find!

I bought one those about a year or so ago at a local auction. After having it around awhile I decided it wasn't anything I was really interested in as it is basically an Amberola 50 in a London DD table cabinet. I actually had very little interest in it when I sold it. Seems the Model 80 is what everyone wants.

If you want detail information contact Steve Medved he's been gathering info on the 60 and 80 for over 10 years. He told me he believed around 110 of the Model 60 were produced, serial numbers began at 1001 for both models.

The Diamond D reproducer was pretty much a disaster, most have the extra weight removed and the later ones didn't even have the holes for the added weight drilled.

I’m bringing two Edison Amberola Model-80’s to the Wayne Show. One is in Oak and the other is Mahogany. The cabinets are adapted from the Sheraton Diamond Disc Phonograph. They have two drawers that can hold up to 42 cylinders. The Oak Model-80 is serial #1071. This is the same phonograph pictured in George Frow’s book “Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion”. Hey! Please be CONTRUCTIVE and don't "DOG" the Amberola 60 as: "it is basically an Amberola 50 in a London DD table cabinet.."

I thought that someone "policed" this site for non-constructive comments.

I have an excellent one, too that does not hurt blue amberols at all that I was going to list here and on EBAY for sale. Now I think that I will just wait until this listing gets more positive comments and at least until after the April 8th show in NJ to list it. I was even going to offer to ship it if someone wanted it bad enough. Mark Roberts
