So I get a text  from a buddy of mine, he works for the school districts. He said they were cleaning out a building in queens and found a piece of junk he thought I would like. So after throwing the custodian a couple of bucks to turn his head because everything goes in the dumpster, you can't take anything home. He brings this baby over . Couldn't believe my eyes. Cranked her up and the turntable spins. So my friends what now , what's the best way to tackle this project. The wood outside looks destroyed but inside solid any help is appreciated  thanks. Chris

This is worth the effort to restore. I can remember previous posts regarding the Pathé' Actuelle cone. Try searching the archives. The outside of the case could just use a good cleaning with GOJO without the pumice. These machines sound and look great once restored.

Our Actuelle was in a similar state when we got it. After much careful re-veneering and refinishing, it now plays and sounds fabulously. We had the gold parts re-plated. In MHO it is well worth the effort to restore.

The cone can be replaced. There's a guy named Buford Chidester who makes (or made) them for a reasonable price. Google him and you'll find his contact info.

I noticed that Stanton’s has a complete Actuelle tone arm and turntable pictured in the upcoming auction....

Started on the cabinet and sent Buford the reproducer for repair. Hope it turns out good .
