Well... what should I say... And for that price !

I guess the next step is to have the seller convince somebody that it's a factory finish (oh, wait, they already confessed to doing this themselves)

Kinda weird that she did this to give a Victrola a "retro look". I mean, isn't the fact that it's a Victrola already sort of "retro"?

I would like to have seen it prior to it's full body dip into "tomato sauce red" paint....

It's only a VV-X. So common that I don't think screwing them up makes much difference- most collectors wouldn't look twice at one even in factory-new condition.

Yes, but even so, it deserved a better fate.

Agreed! When properly restored, the machines from this era, however common, can sound terrific---and isn't that the whole point of this hobby, or am I missing something? But for sure, this VV-X isn't worth the buy-it-now price of $1,500!

Well, I've consistently praised my VV-XI, essentially similar to the X, often in these pages. And spontaneously, at that. But I'm not sure what that proves, except that it sounds good to me, and I like it.

You know its one thing if someone tries to refinish one when it is too far gone to restore the original finish, but I don't know why any one paints these red or, as I see more often shabby chic white. Obviously a refinished one isn't worth as much as an original finish, but if it is done right than it is still worthwhile. Sprey painted, no thanks.
