Here is a clean 5-digit serial number Amberola 30 with external speed control and matching 3-drawer accessory cabinet. The outfit includes paperwork detailing the sale of it to a lady here in Columbus, Ohio from an early antique phonograph dealer, A. Nugent. There are two envelopes stuffed with record lists and pricing along with some ads. Another early dealer and old friend of a friend of mine, Carl Zehner, seems to have been the go-between.

I cleaned and lubricated all bearings and friction surfaces so the machine plays strong and quiet. Reproducer has been cleaned and rebuilt with fresh gaskets and tuned. The machine has great original paint and nickel, including the nickel plated Diamond C reproducer. Appears to have received a coat of varnish and "new" grille cloth in the 1920's.

Price is $400 for the outfit. Free delivery to Union/ Wayne.

It came with about 18 ho-hum Blue Amberols which I have no problem including.

All but one photo is upright viewing from my iphone...I think there must be a glitch in the software.

The cabinet has oak supports and thin plywood sides with tan painted metail cross members. It's rather delicate.

Did Carl Zehner by any chance ever teach at the University of Tennessee or live in Knoxville? When I was a total neophyte collector and still a junior high school student, I developed a strong yen for a diamond disc player, and I somehow got wind of one for sale by someone by that last name, at least phonetically, who I'm pretty sure was a UT prof and whose first name I'm pretty sure was Carl. This would have been back in the mid-to-late 1970s. I remember he was living in an old Victorian house that he was fixing up in what we would, today, call a "gentrifying" part of town, and he vividly demonstrated how robust diamond discs are by abruptly tossing one to the floor. The machine was out in the detached garage; it proved to be what I now know was an A-100 in pretty rough shape. Ended up passing on it and not too long later bought a C-250, still in challenged condition but not as bad, from a retired high school principal who ran an antique phono business/hobby, setting up a booth at the local monthly fairgrounds flea market.
