This is a battery powered light for a wind up phonograph.

NOS with instructions; the main part of the unit has never been unpacked from its rice paper wrapping........and I am going to leave it as is.

There is a tiny amount of oxidation on the inside of the lamp hoods, otherwise, the nickel is perfect. A beautiful example from the phonograph accessory world.

What is this? I've never heard of anything like it and I don't see anything in the directions that explains what it is. Sorry if I am just a bit slow...

It is a DC lamp for bringing directional light into your phonograph playing area.

I have never seen one either but I am sure one of our members can share some background info.

Since the lamp component has never been opened, I am reluctant to take it out of it's rice paper.

Do a search in the APS online archive, and you'll find an article written by Bob Baumbach dealing with a variety of these interior lights, including the Record Flasher. Bob's article inspired me to obtain one!
