I got this off of shop goodwill . It was a local pick up item. Have not even had a chance to clean it up yet. The bad so far: The lid is missing a few pieces of Veneer in the corners on the very top and the top veneer is a little rippled like it got damp but not real bad just slightly. The motor does not work. Everything seems to move freely but the two springs do not seem to be engaging the hooks on the shaft that goes up through the middle of them. I am doing further research on how to disassemble those drums to make sure the springs are not broken. The good: overall the case is in very good condition , The nickel plating on the tonearm and reproducer seem to be in very good shape. The adapter tube is there. The grill cloth is in good shape although I’m not sure if it is original . And I only paid $23.10 for it .

It looks like an interesting project. You can find help with repairs in the Links Section. Other forum members hopefully can help too. I also live in Indiana, but will be moving soon.

You got a good deal on your machine. It will be worth the effort to get it restored. You have an early machine because of the Silvertone medallion on it. Later machines have the rectangular brass tag, and then the decal. A couple of nice accessories would be the Edison and Pathé stylus. They fit in that crescent shaped plate on the machine. Good luck with the restoration.

After some internet study, I believe the motor is a Thorens.

That is an awesome phonograph! You certainly scored--a Thorens is a fine motor and the multiple formats make this little charmer more useful.
Great deal!

That’s a great phonograph! Very nice cabinet. I like most Silvertones, anyway.
