I recently bought an Edison phonograph and have been cleaning it. I removed the model C reproducer to give it an overhaul and the stylus bar looked funny to me. Can anyone tell me what this stylus bar originally cam from? It is gold and the tip has a blue hue to it. Thanks for the help!

It either off a Model B reproducer, or a dictaphone/Ediphone.

Looks home-made to me.

Now that I look at my Dictaphone stylus, it is a little different. I cant get to my Ediphone at the moment to check what it has.
Could it be a reproduction stylus from the 70's or 80's to suit a Model B reproducer?
The wear on the stylus and the colour of the "sapphire" reminds me of the glass styli that were coming out of England about 30 yrs ago.

It came in a model C reproducer. I will refrain from using it until we can come to a conclusion as to whether it plays 2 or 4 minute cylinders.

It definately doesn't belong in a Model C because the Model C & K used a door-knob shaped stylus like below.
I dont have the earlier Model B reproducer, but your style is the type that was used in the B, and they are what's recommended for use on softer brown wax cylinders.
Judging by your picture though, it looks like there's a bad flat spot on the stylus, so it's probably no good anyway.
