Improved Edison 'Hot Rod' Home

I had a post up before about a machine I was messing with, creating an electric Edison home, nicknamed the 'Hot Rod Home', well I was having problems with the motor, it seemed to maybe be a columbia universal motor, but there were problems with it meaning it wouldn't keep steady speed, I decided to change to an Edison Ekonowatt motor but this would not fit inside the previous cabinet, I had some spare oak large enough to use for this so made a new case and this is the result, all it needs now are a couple of switches and a 4 and 2 minute reproducer for the large carrier arm, currently it's using the model C from my Edison Standard with a reducer ring, though this will spend part of its life as a recording machine.
I think it looks pretty cool, although it it pretty weighty!

I always wanted to do something like that... It looks great and you don't have to wind it... How does it play - does it hold the correct speed?

Hi Alex- Is that the motor that took a circuitous route from Virginia to the UK? If so, I'm impressed you have it working so quickly!

And I'm impressed at how far (literally and figuratively) my poor, cut-down modified Home has come to become a sturdy, working machine. Great job!

Thanks guys!
Yeah Brad, it's the same one, I'm not entirely sure Parcel Monkey has it down as delivered yet
Yeah, the Home is a bit different from when it arrived!
Here is a video of it playing!

You're fast--- Way faster than Marcel Ponkey!

Glad the motor finally got there. I've long thought about doing something similar in order to play cylinders without repeated windings, but never got my act together. I can now live vicariously through my old motor!

It plays great!

Very nice! One of these days I might finish my electric phono project. Is that the transformer to the right of the motor?

It is, just to bring the UK voltage down to a manageable level for the motor, I've installed a motor on/off switch for the motor next to it now, might install a regular type carriage until I can afford a model O reproducer for it
