A piano with a built in phonograph, but the phonographs on its side.

It doesn't seem like the greatest invention if you ask me...

I feel like almost $7,000 may be a little much, but I have no idea to be honest.

Thanks for sharing this. Since everything is restored and fully functional I would snap it up if I had the cash.

I have never seen an actual real one anywhere--just a poor photo in the book Player Piano Treasury. At least I can save the photos and hope one day I am able to find a cheaper unrestored model. Mark

Why is the winding key (for the phonograph?) on the side distant from the phonograph?

What is holding the record in place on the turntable in vertical position?

I happen to have a 1926 Kohler and Campbell player piano, so seeing this is very cool.
And the price is a bargain if it is fully restored. Restoring a player piano takes a lot of time if done well.
My piano had not played since 1963 and took a lot of time to get going and I not even restored the player yet.

And how the hell is it supposed to play at all in that position? :?

Likely the machine has a feed screw or something. It's very interesting and I like it.

The motor board and turntable slant back just enough that the record stays on & the arm plays properly. The QRS piano roll company issued a few rolls which (they said) could be played along with specific Victor records.

This isn't the only such combination- years earlier the Melville Clark "Apollophone" appeared in several case designs to very mild success. In the 20's at least one maker put a radio receiver into a player case.

They aren’t all that rare.
