I recently bought this Victor Type E, I think is from around 1905. What do you think? I would love to get some comments and information from my fellow collectors.

Nice machine, as has been pointed out already. The horn is quite a bit larger than mine, I expect it's not original to the unit. That looks like a "hunchback" elbow to me, too. Also the turntable felt looks to be replaced.
I'll defer to those experts here with more experience.
Best,
Fran

I think you made a great purchase. The horn is large but looks very nice. The Victor E has so my style in a small package plus it has a multi-spring motor. It looks very nice. Jerry Blais

Great machine! Congratulations! It seems to be the american counterpart of one I bought the other day - in much worse condition, but the proportions are the same - the small box and arm and the oversize horn, I find it very beautiful! Its on the european machines forum under "What would you do". Your machine is older, the columns more intricate - definitely my machine (from 1913) was modelled on yours! I think the horn IS original to the machine - mine is the same size.

Jerry is absolutely right.
I will add that I like the look of larger (but not too large) horns on machines--and the cabinet finish has a lovely warm color. A very attractive set.
Congratulations and enjoy it,
Steven

A nice little machine. Horns! Big is okay for me. Ha ha I bought my Zonophone never having seen it in person and was shocked at the large cloth covered horn. But I got used to it and love it. I have never seen much larger then my others before. Anyway a great purchase and looks oh so nice. Multi spring motor is always a plus too. Neil

Is there a chance that this E has a Victor II back bracket/tone arm on it? Does the needle touch the center spindle? I ask this because the E would need a horn elbow adapter to fit up to a larger horn. The elbows were pretty small.

It looks to me like the wrong horn elbow has been force fitted to the support bracket. The horn elbow on the E is way smaller than that one shown, and cannot accept a horn that large without an adapter.
