FOR SALE: Wonderful Books About Our Hobby

Post by Jerry B. »

Our very own George Paul (phonogfp on the Forum) has co-authored some of the finest talking machine books available in our hobby. George P. and Tim F. have traveled in search of the finest machines, horns, records, accessories, and advertising relating to our interests. The written content and photos are amazing. You will see and read about things that stretch your phono imagination.

If it is difficult for your loved ones to find a phono related gift this is the answer for you. I promise you will not be disappointed. Hint hint... be sure to ask for George's autograph on the inside of the book.

George is very modest and had nothing to do with this thread but please contact him. In fact he recommended another fine book written by someone else on another Forum thread. We should make an effort to support authors that promote our hobby.

I second the sentiment! Their books are indispensable for any collector of any level. There's always more any of us can learn.

Here's a link for all interested in the gift that keeps giving:

Well, aren't you two busy little Santa's Helpers!

Are you guys working on commission?

Seriously, thanks for the kind words. However, Elf Jerry started a similar (and excellent) thread a few years ago which covered nearly every book a serious collector needs to walk confidently through a phonograph show:

I have found that acquiring knowledge has not only brought me "luck," but has made my collection so much more satisfying to me than it would be otherwise. I fully accept that not everyone is wired the same, but if learning more about artifacts that interest you is a turn-on, find an interesting title in the list above and do yourself a favor!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Knowledge is power. Seriously.

I can't imagine how any serious collector could consider spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on phonographs without having these books as guides. It's very easy to make expensive mistakes, but with some inexpensive education it's very easy to find treasures.
