Does anyone know anything about this one?

Received this when my parents moved. Old phonograph cabinet that I played with in my
grandparents basement when I was a kid (40 yrs ago). The guts are gone but cabinet is
in decent shape and has never been refinished. Cannot deliver :(
Cleaning up my house and this needs to go.

I believe that is a Puritan "Plymouth" model cabinet.

Pretty neat the way the sound comes out from under the storage area. Was it supposed to improve the sound, or was it just to be different?

I don't know, but it's interesting. And for $60? I would pick that up if I was anywhere near it. I hope someone from the board can grab it. Looks pretty interesting...

It was supposed to improve the sound- the placement does allow for a long horn but unless you are lying on the floor the sound is pretty lousy. Puritan machines must have sold reasonably well- they aren't common but turn up too often to be called rare.

There was an Oak Puritan in minty condition on Craigslist in San Diego but they wanted too much for it. $400.
I am sticking with Victor and Edison machines now unless I can get an oddball for a real steal. Its too hard
to find parts for them.

This is actually not to far from me. However, I already have too many projects I'm trying to shed. not to mention the "guts are gone" for an off brand like a puritan is a little off putting. Plus if I was to pick up a Puritan, it would be for one with a little more curves.

Same one, I think. At least, one of the photos is the same.

The price seems okay for someone looking for a Puritan cabinet, though I like the funkier "Mae West" style cabinet model better:

They still all look upside-down! ;-)
