A Diva and Her Regent

Ran across two Columbia " Regent" ads today and I leapt to the scanner before I misplaced them. The Regent didn't figure in the Columbia ads for very long, but in 1910-11 they pushed it for all it was worth. Here's the glamourous Lina Cavalieri who was the height of chic in 1911. And height would be the operative word:if we believe the scale of this ad she was about eight feet tall.
This magazine was badly faded so I could either bring up the text or make Lina and the Regent look good so I chose the latter.
The second ad has clearer text, but lacks the glam quotient. I'll post it soon.

Hi,
What a coincidence! I just got back home from visiting a collector who lives in my area. He just showed me this same Columbia Phono desk. It is a really beautiful piece. The lion's paw feet are very cool. The only bad part of the design is the space where you would slide in the chair is very narrow and cramped.

Nice! That's one of the early versions with the doors over the horn instead of louvers. Another early variation was a lifting lid over the turntable instead of the pull out drawer.
