I found a Victrola 1920 VV-LouisXVI within driving distance and was considering getting it but didnt find info on the Victor site about it so i dont know if it is rare or has value, any advice would be helpfull

Well, it depends on the price. It is RARE- and it is also a "monster"! I'd love one, and it'd be handy to live in when my wife kicks me out!

I like it. Mechanism looks great and finish is right in line with the best.

It also appears to be the size and bulk of a VW Beetle, so there's that to consider...

I guess the Victor-Victrola site does not have a picture of the VV-LOUISXVI No.500. I think all the "Period" victors are very rare. All Victor Victrola's after the first few models started the serial number string at No. 501. This one is serial number 513. My estimation is that 25 to 50 were made. Back in 1920 the price for this machine was a whopping $1200. If I didn't have an interest for the later, larger, electronic machines I could probably find a place for it.

Can someone please finally secure this one before it goes the same unfortunate path as this guy’s L-door? It’s been listed here and on eBay long enough, no?

If you buy it, you can always rent out the "rooms" to foreign guests like Kramer did on Seinfeld! Your pic reminded me of somebody and I finally thought of it. 1930's Hollywood actor Wayne Morris.

The Period Victrolas are very rare. I have owned a couple of these wide period Victrolas and they represent the best of Victor’s cabinet artistry. If you have the room for this Victrola, then this is a very good buy. You will look for a long time to find another. I happen to know the seller and can vouch for his integrity. I would trust his reprenstation of the Victrola.

Tough crowd. That said, a rare machine, if possible should, at least in my opinion, be preserved, not restored except as a last resort, and this example looks ready to be proudly displayed.

As far as size goes, they take up some room, but not as you might think and they also provide a lot of record storage. Nippers or small machines and accessories or a nice lamp can go on the flat top sections, so the space can be used efficiently. The asking price is low and the seller first rate, so I hope that it goes to a good home soon.

I guess I am in the minority here but that Hump lid era has never appealed much to me. Another thing about many early fancier Victrolas is they generally look like a Table model inserted in some cabinet, rather than a true homogenous unit. I personally like nice consoles but again some designs look fine others are somewhat blah.
