Outrageous comments on Edison machine from Youtube youth

I'm amused by the anachronistic comments that some young listeners have left on my Youtube page in reference to my Edison C-450 Diamond Disc phonograph, such as:

"That's the biggest I-pod I've ever seen."

"Hey, where can I plug in my I-pod?"

"What a primitive I-pod."

And my favorite!:

"Before mp3s, there was this HUGE WOODEN SH*T."

The iPod thing comes up often. I was showing an Edison to a young teen. He made a comment about how great iPods are etc. I asked him where his iPod will be 100 years from now. He said probably in a trash fill somewhere. I told him that if the future generations takes care of these phonographs, they will still be around 100 years from now. That's one thing a phonograph can do that an iPod can't. :)

Thank you to the above guest! Whenever I demonstrate my machines for a young
group, I always make the point that it was all done without electricity [except in duplication]. They are amazed that sound can be recorded and reproduced without a computer. We did it that way for over 100 years. I still have my ¼" open reel tape equipment, even though new tape for it is getting too expensive. I've rarely, if ever, heard a dub that sounded as good as the original played on the original equipment. :) Bob Ault
