This is one way to ship a VE 9-55 by freight

The following shows how I have adapted my carts I keep my big phonographs on, which is comprised of three 2"x6" boards and 4" swivel wheels, into a heavy duty pallet suitable for freight shipping. Also included below are my disassembly instructions.

Thanks Marc about your "work of art" comment. Funny that the forklift driver said to my gf, "who does he think he is, Picasso?". I feel the extra effort in making sure it is protected is worth it on such a fine piece of musical machinery and after all the work that went into it.

I just loaded two more of the VE 9-55 “Victrolas” into the van for transport to Union. George of Oregon and Tom of Iowa have been patiently waiting for their purchases they made in February. I packaged them up the same as the VE 9-55 “Victrola” detailed above, except the lower side boards are 2”x6” to allow the cart to roll versus the 2”x12” boards that lift the cart off its wheels required by the major trucking carriers.
Tom and George, you should download the unpacking instructions posted above. Tools required are defined within.
JerryB, thanks for facilitating transport west for George. So many people have relied on your very kind service.

Just dropped off my last functionally restored real VE 9-55 I had for sale. The weight difference between it and my previously posted hybrid VE 9-55 machines (VE 9-55 cabinets with the guts of a VE 10-50) is tremendous. Not sure what the weight of those two types of VE 9-55s are but the weight with my freight shipping protective materials was 420 lbs. for the hybrid and 590 lbs for the real deal machine. The only difference in protective materials used is that the real VE 9-55 had a layer of ⅛” thick pressed board over the 2” thick styrofoam board, which in it self was an additional 41 lbs. (almost two full 4’x8’ sheets). That makes the real VE 9-55 130 lbs heavier than the hybrid. There’s two 2”x12” side boards that hold the whole thing off it’s wheels, that when unbolted will lower itself on to its wheels. Still, what a beast.
