Beautifully made, new and never used (except by me for exactly 20 seconds of test play just before posting this) circa 1970's(?) Paul Baker Edison Model C Reproducer in its original new Edison Model C Reproducer box. I purchased this exactly as you see it from the late Art Sanders (owner of "The Musical Museum" in Deansboro, New York). Art Sanders was a friend of mine and I stopped in to the Museum often when we lived out that way. He always came up with interesting items to entice me as a young collector. This is one of several items I purchased from Art all those years ago. Since that day I've only opened the box and looked at it all these years later.

Paul Baker's craftsmanship is second to none and this reproducer is an outstanding example of his work. This reproducer plays super loud, crisp and clear when I tested it just minutes ago. This reproducer has Paul's initials stamped into the reproducer body separated by the serial number: "P 2081 B". Paul's reproducers have become collector's items today.

PM with interest. USPS First Class shipping is included. Thanks.

Doug

I have one that came on a phonograph I bought years ago. The quality is amazing, and the sound is so beautiful that I opted to keep the Baker replica and substitute an original Model C when I sold the machine. It's definitely a collectible today.

I have heard one only once, I can say that those replicas sound a lot better than original. I would swap out original for that any day. I think they are a masterpiece.

Anything Paul touches seems to be much better than when he received it. I have several of his other items and they are all fabulous.

Scott

PS. Mark it SOLD! I need it.

Thanks for the accolades guys! It's hard to believe it's been 40 years ago that those were made. I was but a mere kid then! The secret to the good sound is in the diaphragm. I still have the die and maybe if I get some extra time(LOL) I'll do a run of them so they can be installed in original reproducers. Original diaphragms work and age harden rendering them less compliant therefore diminishing the output.

Speaking of the diaphragm. I have the original Model H reproducers and have noticed that playing later issue Blue Amberola produces a more harsher and blasty sound. Is that normal?

Hi Paul-- I would love to see you make another run of diaphragms. I still have your reproducers I bought around 1980. They still sound great (K, H and C). We were all kids back then I guess. :)

Hey Paul,
I'm with Brad! Count me in for some of your new diaphragms if you should decide to make some up!

Those reproducers made it dramatically easier and cheaper to play your cylinders overnight. Before PB came along with those you paid $150 or more for a good original, (in 1980) or you could get those sand cast oriental repros with glass styli which were crap. Then these came out at around $75 if I recall correctly and sounded fantastic.

I bought a C, K & H at the time. Wish now I'd have bought a dozen of each. :monkey:
