Hello all, I would like to know your opinions about this phonograph. To me it looks authentic, but the tone arm does not look correct, or part of it does not, and the original nickel seems to have been painted gold.

Please let me know what you think. I am curious to find out if this is real or not.

Thanks in advance.

It is authentic, but someone painted the tonearm, reproducer, and elbow with a gold spray paint.

It all looks correct to me. Someone was liberal with gold paint but that comes off. The horn adaptor allows for using a larger Victor horn which it has. The elbow may be squished down a bit but that's also fixable. The tone arm looks correct and the one photo shows that the needle would hit or be very close to the spindle. That is something to always check on a Victor. Arabic numbers were used on the early numbered models and then again with Victrolas just before the Orthophonic era. What is the asking price? It should be priced as a project but a worthy one.

Somebody certainly did get liberal with the spray paint, but as has been noted, that should be readily removable. As to what lurks underneath, who knows? I did notice the reproducer is missing its thumb screw, but that, too, should not be heard to remedy.

Also, the gooseneck and reproducer have been installed wrong way round; but that's easily fixed.
