New Victor V-1

Just won a Victor V 1 from Shopgoodwill auction. It will be here on the 6th. Can hardly wait!
I think it is from early 1906, might have a bevel type motor but I don't know for sure. Apparently, someone thought it would look better with gold hardware...
These pics are from the auction. Looks like it has the early style horn with adaptor. The ID plate is stamped V 1. Is that indicative of anything? Shouldn't it say VIC 1?
Pretty excited to see it 'in the flesh'!

My Victor V 1 arrived today from Roanoke, VA Shopgoodwill. Needs a lot of work, but I'm very happy with it. The reproducer is toast so I stuck on a No.2 to see if it would play and it does! OBOY!

That's nice!
The V 1 dataplate is fine. Vic I appears on some, kind of like VIC III, Vic 3, V 3 and all those other variants in stamping.
I have one Victor III and it's a lot of gramophone for its size & weight. The Victor Company really gave you your money's worth--even now those are nice for a good quality 78 player.
Can't wait to see how it does restored. Perhaps the tone arm can be re-plated at home? It takes a lot of time but anodes are easily found on eBay and there are recipes on the Forum & Instructables.com for making your own plating solution.

Thanks for the data plate info!
I think I'll start with some paint stripper to get the gold paint off. If the nickel plating underneath is half way decent, I'll just go with that.
