Ok.... i try to stop collecting and it just doesnt work. I ended up getting a *few records I really like and now I think I will likely buy more. I got away with just enjoying the novelty of machines and their mechanics for a while, but now....

Record cabinets seem to be rather expensive. For $200 you could get a floor model -ola type machine which would both serve as storage with the added bonus of being another phonograph.
My question is this. Is it harmful to put a horn model on-top of a victrola for display? I know its not "accurate".

Personally. I dont think it would be harmful, provided the machine on top has rubber feet to protect the finish on the machine under it.
That said, I think you'd have to make sure the top of the lid was sturdy enough to take the weight of another machine. I cant image a Senior Monarch would do any damage to the lid of an Edison C250, but it might cause a bow in a cheaper or later machine which has either a thin 4 ply top, or a very large surface span with little or no support underneath.

Just be careful that the finish on the lid isn't lacquer. Rubber and lacquer do not peacefully coexist. The lacquer dissolves and the rubber gets gummy.
