If it’s oak...offer them $900, but buy it at a grand. If it’s walnut...buy it. If it’s mahogany, it’s worth about $600.cheryla wrote:I have a vv-xvII the one Iam looking at is a ve-130 uder 600 built and they wont 1,250.00 for it.
Condition, wood and how much you want it are big factors. If you plan to keep it for ever, market value is less relevant than if you want to recoup your investment at some time. Supply and demand generally determine value. In this case supply is extremely low. How much do you want it and how sure are you that another will come along at a better price and close enough that freight or travel won't make it cost prohibitive? Value sometimes comes down to having more than one person that truly feels that they must have something. A good set of albums would also bring up the value. I generally pay what something is worth to me, not what it is worth in the marketplace, but that’s me. Good luck.cheryla wrote:I have a vv-xvII the one Iam looking at is a ve-130 uder 600 built and they wont 1,250.00 for it.
I've said this for years, I have never regretted paying for quality, even if it is more than what the market is currently reflecting. If I want something, I buy it, I've taken losses at times when deciding to trim down the herd; to me that's life, at least I had to enjoyment of a great machine for a time. On the flip side, I've made some wonderful finds for my collection at bargain process, so things even out.Django wrote:Condition, wood and how much you want it are big factors. So Circassian was used as late as a VV-130? Or is this where we start the debate between Circassian and highly figured American Walnut?Belfast Farm has a Circassian Walnut VV-130 for $5900.
