Granted, I didn't bid either, but even with $45 shipping, and even without the reproducer, and even being only a VI...still, what can you get for $46?

Damn.....if I had seen that, I'd have bid a dollar. I have a mint nickel plated rebuilt #2 just sitting around here...

Yeah its worth that for parts even. That takes an older Exhibition style soundbox right?
A NO 2 would probably work in any case.

I was actually watching the auction...and almost bid $1....but I knew my wife would kill me...I already have several machines lying around the house (and one hiding in my office), that are just taking up space doing no good to the world.

I know what you mean Zeppy, same here. It took me forever to sell my Starr offbrander and now that I have some room I am avoiding consoles like the plague. This one is small enough to hide in a closet though.

The problem is there's no hiding from the wife. She's a stay at home mom, and she would get the mail. And I excused the IV that I plan on just replacing the spring and getting rid of it (which I have yet to do), and I had my Monarch case and motor shipped directly to work (don't want to abuse that...can't make my office a Victor storage site), this was just a fight I didn't want to tackle...perhaps if get finally finish and rid myself of the IV, it would have worked...but dang, $1 plus shipping....

I know my wife doesn't read this board, but here is one I may try to pull
Whats in the box?
A phonograph.
I thought you said you were not buying any more until you sell some you already have.
It is not for me, I am being paid to fix up for a newbie collector I met.
OK
Months later...
Why do you still have that machine you fixed up for that newbie guy?
He still hasn't paid me, so I am going to hang on to it until I can.
It's evil, but just may work, once!

My second Victrola was a VV-VI. A good friend now owns it, but it sits high up on a shelf. I never really liked the sound from the small horn. My VV-50 sounded much better. I remember spending many hours listening to Red Seals on it, however...

I paid 5 bucks for my VV-VI, but that was many years ago.
