Horn cleaning

I have this horn that I bought at the Wayne NY show. It fits a Victor and is not made by Victor. I has no markings at all. One collector, who I didn't buy it from, even said it could be from a Douglas Victor. Its got a pretty thorough coating in fine rust and the paint is mostly gone except for the throat. I would like to get the most out of the horn and bring it to a better level of presentation. I have also thought about a repaint job. Does anyone have advice on restoration for horns? The painted throat is not baked on enamel and small test with some kotton klenser reveled that it will dissolve. I thought about selective repainting as well, like a new coat carefully applied to work with the existing paint. Maybe someone has a better version of the horn as a reference?

I'm sorry, I can't help you with your horn finish problem. I am wondering about the machine it's attached to in your photo however. Did you get the horn with it? Is it for sale? I like it!
