Only existing type of record

Here is the
only existing (Canadian Gramophone Co.) 1901 pressing
with label and trademark in grooves. The recording is British and dates May 1900. The Gramophone Co. used the recording angel trademark since late September 1898.

WOW!!!!!!.Now that is one great record.I wonder why it has the angel??.Unless they had tried the "in the groove" experiment in tha UK as well as in Canada with the HMV "ITG".Thanks so much for sharing such a remarkable record.I am curious.....was the record found in Canada or else where??.

Experiments with trademark in grooves, beginning in May 1900, were carried out in both Hanover (Germany) and Montreal. In both cases to fend off pirate pressings of Berliner records marketed by Seaman, see the example below (an Italian recording of July 1899).

Well,it turns out that our national archives has some of these "angel in the grooves" records.You may want to ask them which ones they have.

Yes I know, but none bears a paper label.
