BA29006 Rigoletto: Bella Figlia dell'amore

(Verdi) Alice Verlet, Merle Alcock, Guido Ciccolini, Arthur Middleton

Recorded for Edison disc on June 18th 1917 in Edison's New York studio. Released on cylinder in December 1917. The disc version of this recording, no. 84001R was the most expensive offering in the Edison Diamond Disc catalogue retailing at $4.00.

Great sound on this one. I have the disc and to me it sounds like this was sped up a bit to fit on cylinder. Both the disk and cylinder are pretty uncommon.

I have the disc too. I'll have to record that and compare them. I use a strob so I know this was played at ~160rpm when I made the videob but its surely could have been sped up during the dubbing too.

Here's my copy of the disc. Sound is a bit thin, but OK for what it is. I'm quite sure this is at 80 rpm, so I assume the dubbing is responsible for the speed difference.

It seems to me like your disc is more the correct speed but there are some others on the Forum, musicians that can tell in a second. Hopefully one of them reads this.
