Early Oak Amberola 50 #2151

I don't recall ever seeing an oak Amberola 50. A nice early model, serial number 2151.

They do show up occasionally, like maybe 1 a year at Wayne. This one has nice grain and good nickel. Enjoy!

I've had a few over the years but you're absolutely right they are much less common then the mahogany 50s. That said I've probably seen a dozen or a dozen and a half oak 50s and have not yet run into one with that beautiful dark oak finish. That machine is really nice. I'm afraid I'm rather jealous. how I'd like to find an Amberola 75 with that finish!

I have an Oak Amberola 50 in "Golden Oak" and its it Near Mint Condition... and I've seen other "Golden Oak" ones as well.
They made Amberola 50's in 3 finishes.... Mahogany...which is Most found, Golden Oak finish..A lot less found and Fumed Oak finish...even less found...and probably the hardest finish to find in an Amberola 50. The funny thing is that most Amberola 30's were found in "Fumed Oak"....so go figure...
Yours looks to be a "Fumed Oak" 1st Model which I would say is the hardest finish to find in a an Amberola 50....and it's an early one to boot!

See pics below of my Amberola 50 in "Golden Oak" 2nd Model..in "As found condition" The pics are from the Ad that I bought it from 6 years ago and not even my pics..lol...It's as light of a finish as they come... I got about 40 Good 4-minute Blue Amberols with it as well in the deal..as you can see in the ice cooler behind it in the pics..
PS: I correctly re-positioned the Front Grille cover right after I bought it...lol.. It was one of the nicest Edison Machines in the best condition that I have ever bought.. It was like I went right to the Local Edison jobber 100 years ago and bought it myself as the original owner.. It's an "Amazing" condition.

Cliff... Here you go.. This is right from the 1917 to 1920 Edison Catalogs... Note the very first sentence in the original Amberola 50 Ad below (finishes)...
