Probably within the top 5 most difficult and desirable of the 51000 series Edison Diamond Discs is this one: #51575 "SWEET GEORGIA BROWN (A CHARLESTON SWING)" Fox Trot by TENNESSEE HAPPY BOYS -and- "(OH MAW! OH PAW! ISN'T SHE THE SWEETEST THING" by POLLA'S CLOVER GARDEN ORCHESTRA
I remember way back in the Fall of 1990 at the late Doug Anderson's Old Phony Day in Herkimer NY where a bunch of us Northeast phonograph and early record collectors enjoyed a wonderful day of trading, eating and storytelling, well known long time collector, Martin Bryan, approached me asking if I had this particular Edison Diamond Disc. I said, "No, I'm sorry but I'm sure that I don't have that one." On the drive home that day I wondered why this Edison record would be of interest to a long time collector like Martin. Well, many years later and after sifting through literally thousands of Edison Diamond Discs in the wild and never finding it I arrived at a reasonable conclusion as to why he was searching for it. And then I finally found one. It's wonderful. And it's obviously extremely difficult to find.
This is an ORIGINAL Edison Diamond Disc. There are a few scratches on both sides but it plays very nicely indeed on both sides with an occasional pop once in a while that is not at all distracting.
PM with interest. USPS USA address shipping is included. Thanks.
Doug
