Brit steam

Dealing as we are with rejuvinating old tech, I thought this might be of interest: Leave it to our Brit friends to accomplish, er, peculiar tekkie feats. They have recently built a NEW steam locomotive called the A1-Tornado. All new - not a refurb. The first new one in 50 years. Not sure why. Maybe just some bloke with too much money. Wouldn't be at all surprised to find a spring-motor gramophone in the club car. Anyway, here's a video:

Interesting video. There was very little on the locomotive itself and more of what was done to it to modernize it. I would think the analogy for us would be if someone added an electric pickup and pre-amp with DIN connectors to a VV-XI.

I can hear the British guy now: "What we are most proud of is our SWTTWEPU - Spring Wound Turn Table With Electric Pick Up, which is painted black, and allows us to convey the modulations through a standard amplification device and paper cone transducers, when they become available, to annoy the masses."

(actually, I am big fan of big steam and would like to hear more about this locomotive)
