The One That Got Away?

Saw this on eBay and it looks to be an original Edison tinfoil with a wax-filled mandrel. Can't prove its is Alexander Graham Bell's, but even so, what a deal!
Anyone on the forum get this?

I didn't see it on eBay and I didn't get it, but it's not an original. It's a late 1930s replica made by Dictaphone for promotional purposes, copying the prototype Graphophone in the Smithsonian.

Thanks Rene. I figured you would know. Now I don't feel so bad, but it's still neat.

At that price, I would certainly have bought it if I'd seen it.

Absolutely. You can't even get a generic tinfoil at that price.

Rene - besides the handle, what else is missing? And what is the piece on the backside of the mandrel (right side of picture)?

If you look at the seller's feedback, you'll see that he/she was talked out of the sale once the auction had ended. The winning bidder was not happy.

That's so unprofessional of the seller, it really grinds my gears...
