Whatever the auctioneers may say, this is not an HMV. It is however of good quality and was retailed by the well respected firm of Keith, Prowse & Co Ltd, who were also the British sales concessionaires for Sonora. I cannot make out the maker's lid transfer. Does anyone recognise it

The shape of that horn should be a help in its brand.
I've adjusted the contrast to try and read the writing.
Two words that I cannot decipher. James.

Could it be "Best Made"?

I'm afraid that my old eyes still cannot make out the enlarged wording provided by Roaring20s, but if the logo was indeed a trade mark there should be documentary evidence of it's registration on record somewhere. If it wasn't a 400 mile round trip away from me I would be tempted to go and have a look, if only to satisfy my curiosity.
