Edison Walnut Upright

Is this one rare? Walnut is rare for Victor machines but I am pretty clueless when it comes
to Edisons.

I don't think that's walnut. Looks like a stripped mahogany C150 cabinet to me. There were some, not many Edison uprights Amberolas and Diamond Discs, offered in Circaissian walnut. Victor, if I'm not mistaken also offered some machines in American Walnut. I'm not sure Edison did.

Among the Edisons offered in walnut were the Amberola 1A and the A300 and the A & B450 diamond disc machines. I posted the A300 as a featured phono, (no 5) back several months ago. You can see some of teh pictures here.

Since these pictures were taken it's had a bit of an overhaul. Steve Farmer expertly repaired the broken front "hoof" and cleaned it up. Perhaps I can post some more pics at a future point but I don't have access to the machine right now.

yes, that's definitely a C-150, and not walnut... again, either stripped or worn mahogany or possibly - hard to tell from the grainy photo - very dirty oak.

here's a photo of an L-19 I used to have in walnut, although the finish was special, can't recall the type, but some sort of weathered walnut (darkened it overall more than standard walnut and made the graining less obvious).

It looks like my Cardinal did part-way through the stripping process. I'd pass on it.

yes, that machine was a great find, as were the discs that came with it. but I'm no longer as stationary as I had been for a while - house is in the process of selling, and I'm renting a much smaller place, and may not be staying there much longer either - so I've been really downsizing and getting far more selective in terms of what I'm keeping... which at this point, seems to be the various Pathé machines, a couple of nice cylinder players, a few of the less common external horn victors, and a few other random edison disc players and victor machines. regrettably, I've had to let some pretty nice stuff go already.

You will know how much an Edison C 150 is worth when you try to sell one. In restorable condition $150 and in good shape $200 tops, on craigslist. The one under discussion is probably not restorable. I have my eye on this local beauty but the seller has no idea what it is and the price is a fabrication.



It appears as I check my post that the feet on the B250 are cut off, making the thing garbage.

Ha! Ha! I wonder where the chunky lid support came from. Notice the sensual curve to the front. And what is the hanging thingy for, and the two holes under the lid? Gosh, some things are so difficult to figure out. What kind of record does an Edison play? The thick ones or the thin ones?

Brian is one of the lucky few to have a B250 of his own, which is posted on this forum and which I was checking for the feet.

I tried to pick up a Consolette today, but the owners wouldn't budge off of $400. Pass.
