Help! 1907-ish Columbia Grafonola winding issue!

My Columbia grafonola worked perfectly until today. I wind it up and everything seems normal, but then when I play the record it doesn't hold the wind for more than a few seconds. Not sure if this is a spring issue? Please help, I love my machine and want to try to fix it! Thank you in advance!

Your spring is almost certainly broken. There is a "links" section on the board with many vendors who can help you. I recommend Ron Sitko for both price and service.

I can't get exactly what you mean with this. You mean that you fully wind it, and that after few seconds you find out that it is almost completely unwound? Or you mean that it fails to play a record, although the spring appears to be still wound up?
