Hello All,

A friend of mine was thrift shopping the woman running it showed her this framed picture which is Edison. No one knew who it was but my friend guessed it and ask her to hold it for me to look at since she knew I liked Edison record players. When I saw it I liked it as its quite large and the quality of the framing is good. On the back it has a tag saying it was reframed by Stix Baer & Fuller, a department store chain I had worked at in the 60s and was bought out by Dillards probably in the 70's. So it has to go back at least that far. I know its common to see Edison prints but it goes so well in tones with my Chippendale which is currently in my moms basement.. Someday will move upstairs I hope. I wondered if anyone knew anything about these?

Thanks for that information. Was the portrait produced then after 29 for some time or are they just of that period.. I would be surprised to learn it goes back that far, but then all I know is it appears to be a rather nice overall framed print.

Well, there may be copies, but I have had a couple of and seen many of these original prints. They are mounted to pasteboard and in a modest gold-painted frame with no matting or glass.

That would make sense since it is marked on the back as custom framed, so they most likely either had it or found it and wanted it made a bit more elaborate. Nice to know whence it came. and why.
