HMV All Brass Victor Flower Horn Question

Here in the States we occasionally see the all brass Victor #24B horn. Did HMV sell other sizes of the all brass Flower horn? If so, what sizes? Can someone post a photo? I asked this question before but didn't get a clear response or a photo.

Thanks, Jerry B.

Hi Jerry,

I have only ever seen the brass morning glory horn in the large size, made for the Gramo Co. Senior Monarch 12" inch turntable machines (the Victor V & Vl equivalents). Apparently unused stock was used up on Zonophone machines when HMV stopped using them. Back in the 1980's quite a few repros of these were being imported here from India. The repros were available in 3 sizes but I was informed, by a specialist who was selling them, that only the large size was really correct for any UK machine as that was the only size originally used here.

As I recall the Indian repros were quite good and I wish I had one of the senior sized ones now! I can see them now stacked up like paper cups! I wonder where they are all now...

Jamie

Here's a better image, than the one I posted before, of famous Edwardian actress Phyllis Dare and her G&T Monarch Senior. She may well have kept company with a few Monarchs... pretty girl. So here's an original brass MG as sold in Britain.

That's a nice looking old phonograph, and though Miss Dare was very pretty, does anyone else think her hair makes her look like Princess Leia?

Thanks for the replies. Early in my collecting years in the late seventies we traveled to Victoria, BC for a vacation. I stumbled on an antique shop that had a nice selection of machines. I remember seeing a red Gem with a large carriage and a mid-sized HMV with an all brass horn. The horn had patina so I assumed it was original. I remember it being about the size of a #19 Flower horn. But that's a forty year memory and it must be a bit faulty. I should have purchased both the E Gem and the HMV but I didn't.
