I found this one, from my regular record dealer. However, when i did a Google search. Only the record company from the 1950’s came up? Any ideas?

I have a 12 inch Victor record by Gilbert Girard from 1921. I wonder if it is the same recording released on another label? Perhaps the least Christmassy Christmas record ever made. It is two sides of Girard telling Mother Goose stories with sound effects.

That is my thinking? I just wish I knew who manufactured the recording. I have seen this on a PERFECT record label as well.

When searching for information on 78 rpm labels, just google search those three terms. Quite a few results of webpages with very interesting content!

This forum's TMF Label Gallery & Guide, A Visual Resourse For 78 RPM Labels is found here http://talkingmachine.info/labels/, but only shows two other Bell label styles.

There are also several books on the subject. Two of the more relevant books on 78 rpm records (and cylinders) produced in the U.S.A. are American Record Labels And Companies, An Encyclopedia (1891-1943) by Sutton & Nauck, and American Record Companies And Producers (1888 - 1950), by Sutton. There certainly are others, and even the best of them do have some errors and ommissions...

Your S-prefix Bell is probably pressed from an Arto or Lyraphone master. It's from the early 1920's. Bell eventually pressed material that was also on a number of different labels, like Emerson, Grey Gull, etc. Bell was discontinued in 1928.
