SOLD: RARE COLUMBIA MODEL BM - $2650. How many of these have you ever seen offered for sale or even seen in someone's Antique Phonograph Collection? They Really Are Rare! This is a Very Nice Looking Example! This model has the oversize "Higham" reproducer that is smaller than the one found on the Columbia "BC" 20th Century model. It also has the amber wheel with the "shoe" that rides on it, designed to increase the playing volume of the machine. The 4 spring motor on this machine runs fine, but I have to admit that I don't know how to correctly adjust the reproducer tension, etc. so that it plays loud and clear. You can hear some amplification but it also has some distortion along with it. Hopefully the new owner of this machine will know someone that can get that working right. The nickel plating is Excellent. The case finish does have some crazing that often comes with age. The back side of the case does have some holes that have been filled very well, almost to the point that you can't see them unless you know that they are there. I suspect that someone wanted it to be a rear mount machine at one time. The cover does still have the "BM" sticker under the lid, so it's not just a "BG" case. If this was a big issue for someone, I do have two other wood cases with lids that it could be changed into. At least one of those is refinished, though, but looks nice.
