I never would have thought that I would have ever had the chance to get down here to see the Edison Ford Winter Home in Ft. Meyers, FL. I finally made it down.

The homes are just beautiful and the property is just as beautiful. It is the most relaxing place that I have ever been, and I think every collector should see this place. In the homes there are many phonographs. I have seen the Edison Gem, Edison Standard, and Fireside as well as the Edison Laboratory model Disc Machines. I never saw any Amberola machines. Did Edison own any Amberola machines for his own personal use?

Although the Amberola mechanism was removed from this machine at the Thomas Edison National Historic Park in West Orange, it's quite possible that Edison himself used this to audition cylinders just as he did later to audition discs. Click the image twice to enlarge & sharpen.

I must admit it still surprises me how many collectors don't own our books! ;)
