For all you volume control freaks, here's a neat little attachment which slips over a reproducer's exposed needle bar in order to dampen the sound. The Victor Exhibition reproducer pictured is pimped out with a Phonomute (raised slightly off the diaphragm in these pics), a Place No. 10 Record Brush, and a Condon Autostop's "trip plate with trigger" (sandwiched between the reproducer's rubber isolator and back plate) which is used in conjunction with a Condon Autostop.

Yes, the Phonomute can be used on the reproducer of most any external or internal horn machine. As long as you can attach the device to the reproducer's needle bar, it will work. Attaching it to a reproducer with a protective needle bar cover, like on a Victor Orthophonic, could be quite difficult if not impossible. The Victor Exhibition reproducer pictured is off of my Victor D.

Glad you like the Phonomute,
Bob
